Bringing Philippine Design, Artisanship, and Style to Fashion Access 2013

Over the years the Philippines has shown that is has the undeniable talent and artisanship to match, and even surpass, the movers and shakers in the global fashion industry. Designers and designs alike shine in the international fashion stage, each representing the multi-faceted Philippine fashion that, at its core, culls inspiration from its diverse culture, age-old tradition, and exquisite craftsmanship, translating them into designs that are relevant today.

At Fashion Access 2013, Fashion Philippines brings together some of the best in the industry, showing off Philippine fashion through contemporary design sensibilities, high-level artisanship, and Philippine style.

In this first foray to Fashion Access, Fashion Philippines is set to showcase fashion items that highlight the country’s artisanal skills, providing a glimpse of the Philippines inimitable design talent in apparel, fashion wearables, and jewelry. Taking Fashion Philippines to one of the premier international fairs in the world serves to sustain the Philippines as a destination for quality and expertly designed and crafted products, all the while making it known that the Philippine fashion is a thriving, creative, and driven industry.

The Philippine participation also features designs from Manila Wear, a uniquely Filipino brand for fashion apparel and accessories crafted from the country’s local resources with a sensibility akin to a tropical/resort feel. Featured designers include Adante Leyesa, Amina Aranaz, Anne Saguil, Arnel Papa, Ken Samudio, and Dennis Lustico.

Fashion Philippines will also feature designs from Almar Shell Industries; Armyths International Fashion Design; Bon-Ace Fashion Tools, Inc.; Crystal Seas Handwoven and Handcrafted Products; Imperial Nova Corp.; Itica Inc.; J.E.R. Shellcraft; Kilus Foundation Multi-Purpose Cooperative; Kitsilver; Larone Crafts, Inc.; MelRose O; Nooks Manufacturing International Coorporation; Omaque Arts and Crafts; Orient Meadow Export Corp.; PLV Trading; and Raw Earth Collections by Silnag.

Manila Wear: Fashion’s Truly Philippine Brand

This October, Manila FAME, The Design and Lifestyle Event, will usher in a new season of design and craftsmanship presenting its all-Philippine brand to the global market, highlighting new designs, innovations, and talents. In the midst of it all is Manila Wear, a fashion brand unique to the Philippines, featuring the best designers in the country to showcase their designs at Manila FAME.

A branding initiative for fashion apparel and accessories crafted from the country’s local materials, Manila Wear embodies a truly Filipino design sensibility that is synonymous with tropical/resort wear. International fashion icon Josie Natori leads a select group of designers in creating remarkable Manila Wear pieces for the world.

Josie Natori is a renowned international designer and CEO of the NATORI, a lifestyle brand that include lingerie, ready-to-wear apparel, home accents, fragrance, and eyewear, selling to upscale department stores in the US, and to at least 15 countries internationally. She leads Manila Wear with a passion for fashion and Filipino heritage, guiding both up-and-coming and seasoned designers in creating fashion objects that truly define the Philippines.

 For October, Manila Wear will feature creations from Philippine fashion’s creative minds: Jun Artajo, Amina Aranaz-Alunan, Happy Andrada, Leaonor Cabili, Lally Dizon, Carissa Cruz Evangelista, Joel Escober, Emi Jorge, Natalya Lagdameo, Adante Layesa, Dennis Lustico, Joyce Makitalo, Arnel Papa, Malou Romero, Ken Samudio, and Nicole Whisehunt.

Manila Wear will also feature a special setting of editorial pieces from designers Olivia D’Aboville, Wataru Sakuma, Jinggoy Buensuceso, Eric delos Santos, Twinkle Ferraren, and Wawi Navarrosa.

The 57th edition of Manila FAME brought together some of the Philippines’ best fashion designers that embodies the Filipino creativity and craftsmanship.

Showcased at Manila Wear are creations by Filipino designers under the curatorial leadership of fashion icon Josie Natori, who says: “I’m so proud of all these very talented young designers…It’s a great opportunity for every one of them to be able to show their personality and show their best. I think it’s time that the world knows about the creativity and the wonderful products they can get from Philippine designers. FAME has been an amazing venue for that. Just exciting to see all these creativity in one booth.”
